About 5 minutes from signup to a running, licensed Mesh.
Request beta access using the email address where you want to receive your license.
You'll receive a license code by email shortly after signing up. During business hours, this is usually a few minutes. Outside business hours, expect it the next morning. Same email gets the license, make sure it's one you check.
Once you have your license code, download the latest installer from the Mesh download page.
Double-click HiveTrail_Mesh_Setup.exe to start setup.
Heads up - Windows SmartScreen warning. Mesh isn't code-signed yet (we're keeping costs down during beta). Windows will likely show a "Windows protected your PC" dialog before letting you run the installer. To proceed:
This is a normal warning for any unsigned Windows app. Once Microsoft's reputation system has seen Mesh installed enough times, the warning typically stops appearing for new downloads.
Once setup runs, follow the standard Windows installer prompts. Defaults are fine - install location, optional desktop shortcut, etc. Setup takes about a minute.
Launch Mesh from the Start menu, your desktop shortcut, or the install completion screen.
You may see the SmartScreen warning a second time on first launch (this time for HiveTrail_Mesh.exe itself). Same workaround: More info → Run anyway. After the first successful launch, Windows usually remembers and stops warning.
On first launch, Mesh asks for an optional consent to collect basic app usage information. We value your privacy and do not collect any user data, nor do we attach any of the collected usage data to your email or license.
By enabling telemetry, you will be helping us improve Mesh and focus on what really matters to our users.
The telemetry collection is disabled by default. To enable it, press the “Help Improve Mesh” button in the telemetry dialog. You can change these settings at any time in the Settings section.
On first launch, Mesh asks for your email address and license code. Paste both in.
Mesh validates your license locally - it verifies the cryptographic signature without contacting any server. The check works offline, which means your license, like the rest of Mesh, doesn't depend on our servers being up.
If the email or license code doesn't match, you'll see an error message and can correct it without restarting Mesh. Common causes: extra spaces around the email or license, or using a different email than the one you signed up with.
Once validated, Mesh unlocks and you're ready to set things up.
